Civil Unions Progressing?

It looks like the civil unions bill is progressing and ultimately will be signed by the governor.  What I want to know is how this will impact the State of Hawaii.  I know that pro civil union supporters talk about the economic boom from passing this bill but studies show that the economic impact will be negligible on our tourism and economy.

I am wondering if there will be social impact on Hawaii.  Will we see new businesses such as arrangements for trips to Hawaii for civil unions?  Will there certain areas where civil union supporters frequent?  How will this affect the polictians who pass the bill?  Will there be repercussions?  Will passage of this bill finally put to rest all of the debating and fighting?  I would like to hear your thoughts.

  1. Michelangelo Signorile, a homosexual writer, pointed out the acceptance of civil union or gay marriage could help them "redefine marriage in general: "A middle ground me be to fight for same-sex marriage and its benefits and then, once granted, redefine the institution of marriage completely, to demand the right to marry not as a way of adhering to society's moral codes but rather to debunk a myth and radically alter an archaic insitution.

Thus the destruction of marriage itself is in their sights". Furthermore, Signorile added that same-sex marriage could give them the legal tool by which they could force their agenda on society. It is also a chance to wholly transform the definition of family in American culture. It is the final tool with which to dismantle all sodomy statues, get education about homosexuality and AIDS into public schools, and, in short, usher in a sea change in how society views and treat us.

Thus, the push for homosexual marriage is a lot more sweeping than a handful of people expressing their love for each other in public forum. The long-term consequences could be devastating for society, the family, children and the church.

The Democrats who are in control of the legislature is blinded to what the Civil Union (same-sex marriage) will do to Hawaii and our children. The Democrat party here has no moral values at all. They can't see that Civil union is the first step of destroying families with Traditional values and marriage.

  2. Good post. I wonder what will come of the vote taken some years back where the public rejected same sex marriage? Will the supreme court uphold this? The activists are not after equal rights. They are seeking special priviledges and they have smoke screened it as equal rights.

  3. I laugh when our lawmakers take the moral high ground on gambling then make civil unions a top priority for this year's legislation.

  4. It's not civil rights. The CU supporters have everyone fooled into thinking they were deprived somehow.

  5. Have you noticed, since Abercrombie signed the Civil Union (same-sex marriage) into law, our local paper's editorial section, letters to the editor, has hardly anything on what people thought of what's coming to Hawaii society. This paper is so "bias". They endorsed same-sex marriage and I wouldn't be surprised its editor or the one that makes the final decison on what letters to the editor printed, is a homosexual or lesbian.
Sometime I wish I was a billionaire. The first thing I would do is make an offer to by the StarAdvertiser and than I would fire just about everyone in the editorial section.

  6. Did you notice that after the Governor signed the civil unions bill, we have massive thunder and lightning, as well as an earthquake the next day?
